SOURDOUGH

Roofing — weathered in Alaska.

Anchorage roofers cut from the original Alaska stock. Sourdoughs: the old-timers whose starter survived the cold. The same idea, on your roof — cold-rated systems, engineered for Zone 4 snow load, installed by a crew that has shoveled out of every winter since the pipeline went in.

SECTION 02 / THE STANDARD

What earns the
Sourdough name.

Three non-negotiables that the cheechako contractors out of Wasilla won't match. If a competing bid skips any of them, it isn't a real estimate — it's a callback waiting.

  • STD. 01

    Cold-Rated Underlayment

Self-adhered ice-and-water shield on every eave, every valley, every pipe. No exceptions, no upsell — it goes on because Anchorage is in Climate Zone 7.

  • STD. 02

    Engineered For Zone-4 Snow Load

Every replacement is sized to carry 38 PSF ground snow load with a Cs adjustment for steep slope. We hand you the math before we hand you the bill.

    AK-Born Crew

The crew that drives to your job has worked through every Anchorage winter since 2009. No subcontracted snowbirds, no out-of-state day labor.

SECTION 03 / FIELD REPORT

Four jobs.
Done the same way.

ALL WORK PHOTOGRAPHED. ALL DECKING INSPECTED BEFORE COVER. NOTHING HIDDEN UNDER A SHINGLE.
  • 01

    Full Re-Roof

    REF / RR-01 · 3–5 WK LEAD

Tear-off down to the decking, ice-and-water shield from eave to ridge, synthetic underlayment, and architectural shingles or standing-seam metal rated for AK wind. Done in 2–4 days, weather permitting.

    Storm Repair

    REF / SR-02 · SAME-DAY TARP

Wind-lift, tree strike, granule loss, exposed felt, missing ridge cap. We tarp first, photograph everything for your adjuster, then schedule the permanent fix once your claim is open.

  • 03

    Snow Load Inspection

    REF / SL-03 · OCT – DEC

Pre-season structural review. We measure drift exposure, run the load against your truss spec, and tell you straight whether you need to shovel at 12 in., 18 in., or never. Written report, signed.

  • 04

    Ice Dam Mitigation

    REF / ID-04 · EMERGENCY 24/7

Heat-cable layouts, attic insulation top-off, eave ventilation, steam-melt removal of existing dams. We fix the cause, not just the icicles. No roof-rake bandaids.

SECTION 04 / STORM LOG

The last
eight calls.

Pulled straight from the dispatch board. We don't scrub the names from the neighborhoods — if you're from Spenard and you've seen our truck, that's the point.

We had a sheet of ice the size of a kitchen table backed up under the eave. They were on the roof at 8am steaming it off and the leak stopped that day.
K. Hartwell — South Addition
Got three quotes. Theirs was the only one that actually walked the attic and explained the load math instead of just selling shingles.

SECTION 05 / COVERAGE

Anchorage bowl,
Eagle River, Chugiak.

If your roof line is visible from Glen Alps, we cover it. We do not drive to the Valley for residential work — Wasilla and Palmer homeowners, call a Mat-Su crew. We'll vouch for two of them.

SECTION 06 / THE CREW

We've been
on Anchorage roofs
since 2009.

Started after the 2009 February cold snap shredded half the asphalt roofs in the bowl. Three of us, one truck, working out of a 6th Avenue unit. Still in the same unit. Same three of us.

Most of our work comes from people we've roofed for once already, or their neighbor. We do the same thing whether you heard about us from a friend or from a Google search at 2am when something started dripping: pick up the phone, drive over, look at it honestly, tell you what it is.
